Attorney Jacqueline Goodman recently wrote an article for the Los Angeles / San Francisco Daily Journal titled, “AB 3070 will help our legal system meaningfully address racial bias.” In the article, she endorses Assembly Bill 3070 and details how it will help fight against racial bias in the jury selection process.
AB 3070 was proposed by Assemblywoman Shirley Weber (D-San Diego) and bans the use of peremptory challenges to remove potential jurors based on race, ethnicity, or gender – and thus prohibiting the practice of rejecting people of color from juries without providing a valid reason. The bill passed the assembly a week before Attorney Goodman’s article was published.
