California Attorneys for Criminal Justice Pass Bill AB 3070

|

California Attorneys for Criminal Justice (CACJ)-sponsored bill, AB 3070, authored by Shirley Weber (D), passed through the California Senate on Sunday. The bill, which previously passed the Assembly and is on its way to Governor Gavin Newsom’s desk to be signed, protects potential jurors from being removed on the basis of race. It is a long-awaited step towards ridding the criminal justice system of the scourge of racial bias.

You can read more about AB 3070 in the piece I penned for the Daily Journal here.
